The ESCAPE II model was born from the M-43 (TYPE III), a highly popular US service boot. The M-43 is known as the boot most frequently produced and issued to the US military, and its superior comfort and high level of finish have made it a standard in modern boot manufacturing.
At the time, medical researchers in the United States were involved in efforts to improve comfort, and their knowledge has been passed down to the design philosophy of this model. This model is a roughout boot crafted from a single piece of leather (unlined) using luxurious, high-quality leather, eliminating all waste. By adopting a "toe padding removal" design, a feature seen in vintage service boots, the boots feel extremely soft on the foot, and the toe naturally collapses with wear, developing a refined look reminiscent of vintage boots. While retaining the strength of a boot, they also offer a supple feel.
The thin instep and three-dimensionally tapered arch create a comfortable fit, showcasing the skilled craftsmanship of our experienced artisans. Each pair is meticulously crafted by artisans who have dedicated their lives to shoemaking. The soft fur and rich chestnut brown color add depth and elegance to your everyday look. The leather used is silver-plated suede from Nakamura Sennosuke Shoten, a long-established tannery founded over 100 years ago.
The thick, well-tanned leather has a fine, smooth texture, and the more you wear it, the more you can enjoy the beautiful changes that occur over time. The shaggy, grained suede gradually develops wrinkles and shadows, developing a unique look that smooth leather does not have.
